The Challenge

Create a lid aligned with Tim Horton’s sustainability standards and goals as well as a demanding list of specifications:

  • Must be water- and oil-resistant
  • Use plant-based fiber
  • Avoid single-use plastic
  • Capable of producing at scale

How’d we do?

OUR SOLUTION

Custom, durable plant-based fiber lids for Tim Hortons hot beverage cups

These plastic-free lids, designed to be recyclable and compostable, are available in two sizes to fit a range of four different cups. The lid includes a sipping hole with a re-closable tab. After successful consumer market tests at select restaurants in the Vancouver and Toronto markets, the lid is undergoing extensive functional and dimensional testing before a national launch in Q4 2024.
