Revolutionary Product Lines, Customized to MeetIndustry-Specific Demands

From supermarkets to stadiums, Footprint is fighting plastic by creating solutions that help major industries meet their sustainability goals.
Replacing Single-Use Plastics with Eco-Safe Supermarket Packaging

The Footprint Supermarket Product Line

The single-use plastics we discard after grocery shopping won’t break down for centuries. Creating sustainable alternatives to the plastic containers we use to pack, ship and store perishable food, however, is no easy task.

Supermarket food containers have to meet rigorous performance requirements: They must be stackable and able to travel long distances while protecting food products from damage, spoilage and contamination. They need to hold up in the presence of humidity, heat and cold. They cannot break down if exposed to water, oil or grease. They need to do all this while also being lightweight to control the costs of shipping them.

Supermarket food containers have to meet rigorous performance requirements:

  • Lightweight and flexible
  • Easily stackable
  • Able to travel long distances without damage
  • Protect perishables from bruising, spoilage and contamination
  • Withstand humidity, heat, cold, water, and oil

Research shows consumers are deeply stressed about the amount of single-use plastic they see at grocery stores, and are eager to patronize brands and businesses that switch to sustainable packaging.

We had no reliable alternatives to replace supermarket plastics—until now.

Making Sustainable Stadiums a Reality

The Footprint Stadium Product Line

There are more than 900 professional sports stadiums in the United States, more than in any other country on earth. Every single one gives us a perfect opportunity to reduce plastic waste.

Stadium food services require tens of thousands of cups, bowls, plates, utensils, and straws, all of which need to be sturdy, lightweight, portable and disposable. Footprint’s plant-based versions of flatware and cutlery are currently in use at the Footprint Center, a newly dedicated, sustainability-centric sports stadium in downtown Phoenix.

Our stadium product line has already diverted hundreds of tons of single-use plastic from landfills, and we’ve been able to test, adjust and perfect it through the Footprint Center.

Road-Tested, Proven Solutions for Stadium Food Services

We’ve designed solutions for spectators of all kinds: from upscale dinnerware, glassware and flatware for VIP clubs, sky boxes and luxury suites to bio-based coolers for tailgating. Our clamshell and rectangular trays provide perfect containers for concession stand mainstays like burgers, fries and nachos.

The majority of consumers of all generations say brands and businesses need to lead on eliminating plastic pollution by adopting sustainable packaging. Stadiums that adopt sustainable solutions are modeling how large-scale operations can take meaningful action on environmental issues, and earning goodwill with fans and the public.

We can replace single-use plastic with plant-based solutions in sports stadiums worldwide.
